160 People Targeted to Get Free Tattoo Removal in East Jakarta

A total of 160 residents are targeted to get free tattoo removal service at Block C Building, East Jakarta Mayor's Office, on Thursday (4/21).

This program is carry out to help those who want to get rid of tattoos on their bodies

This free tattoo removal activity was carried out through collaboration between Jakarta Baznas Bazis, Islamic Medical Service (IMS), and East Jakarta Government.

When opening the service, East Jakarta Mayor Muhammad Anwar mentioned this program was provided to facilitate residents who want to repent and return their bodies to normal, without tattoos.

"This program is carried out to help those who want to get rid of tattoos on their bodies," he said.

Based on participants' confessions, he conveyed, they wanted to get rid of the tattoos on their bodies because they felt uncomfortable when they gathered with the others. While the Muslim participants felt their ablution was invalid because there were certain substances in their bodies.

"Hopefully, in this holy month of Ramadan 1443 Hijri, they really show their repentance," he expressed.

East Jakarta Baznas Bazis Coordinator Eka Napisah explained that the service would last until Friday (4/22). So far, there were 160 people who had registered online. After arriving at the location, they would be asked to hand over a copy of their ID card or family card (KK) for verification.

"Although the registration is done online, we still serve people who come directly to the location to register," he stated.

According to him, the budget for this free tattoos removal service was Rp 119 million using zakat, infaq, and shodakoh (ZIS) funds managed by East Jakarta Baznas Bazis.
